Cornish campsites

Can anyone recommend a nice family campsite in Cornwall for tent camping?

I’m looking for somewhere that’s simple and friendly. We don’t need EHU and don’t need loads of facilities – just clean toilets and showers and a wash-up area. We tend to go off site during the day and kids are now teens, so no need for pools and club facilities.

We’ve not been to Cornwall before so don’t have a specific area in mind but if you’re able to recommend fab beaches and other attractions nearby that would be great.

I thoroughly recommend a place called Polmanter. Lovely site, lovely facilities.

It's near St Ives. Newquay and all its wonderful beaches are about 30-40 mins drive.

Thanks, Dexter! That looks really nice, although maybe a bit more organised and upmarket than we're used to! :)

Thanks, Ricekrispie. I like the look of the last one - Higher Pentreath. I think that might be number 1 on the list so far. :)

We stayed at Tremorvu near Helston last year and it was gorgeous. The pics don't do it justice. Small, friendly site with well planned pitches and screening. Clean toilets, hot showers and easily accessible drinking water taps.

I'd happily go back again.

This place is special ...its not near the sea but is on Bodmin....but not far drive to Bude/Tintagel - the space is great , you can have fires , they have a brook/river to play with , a story circle, standing stones and a great walk around the site - the local pub is great - and they had a village shop/post iffice that was well supplied however you do have to drive to most things-

Tristram campsite in Polzeath. Stayed a few years ago and loved it. Fantastic location.

Try Gwithian Farm, walking distance to a good beach, pub opposite. It's pretty close to St Ives.

We go to south penqyute farm on Bodmin moor most years. We mostly stay in their yurts but have also camped too. It’s fantastic

Stoke Barton farm. Lovely views, walking distance to pub and sea ( steep walk though!) and loads to do in the area.

Forgot to say! It's on the border of Devon/ Cornwall. Beautiful bit of coast.

Old MacDonald’s farm, a couple of hundred yards from my favourite beach, porthcothan.

Near mevagissey is tregarton, which has good facilities. Around the corner from there is heligan woods, also quite a nice one.

Trewan hall is a couple of miles inland from Mawgan porth (and porthcothan) and has a good pool but can be busy. Big though, so lots of room.
