Hi team

Does anyone have any tips for breastfeeding in a tent? I'm worried about back support... Any advice much appreciated.

Cheers

Do you need back support? A decent camping chair?

I've got a camping chair, but need to check how BF friendly it is before we head out.

I'm thinking more of night time feeds, and whether there is a way to do it that doesn't necessitate me getting out of my sleeping bag!

Feed lying down on your side... unzip the sleeping bag slightly... I did that easily (many years ago now) Best way to keep a baby quiet overnight as well if there are a lot of other camper around.

How old is your baby?

My tip would be to wear a big zip up hoody or fleece so you are still warm when you uncover to feed the baby. It’s bloody cold at night camping sometimes. You can also tuck the baby inside the open hoody aswell. Also I always have to lie on my side to feed a baby at night, if you do to make sure your mattress is thick enough that you shoulder isn’t hurting.

I was another lying down person (pretty much all the time if I could, not just night feeds!).

DD was in a warm grobag, so I kept her in that and laid her next to me. keeping in my sleeping bag too, but with her on the top. Some of my best memories were that very early morning feed, just the two of us half awake and then she'd go back to sleep. It was just that one feed though, I'm not sure I'd be up for a 3x a night feed whilst camping!

Lay down. Look up “the cuddle curl” position.
