Looks fab. We've just bought a bell tent. We're a family of 4 so got the 5 Metre tent.

RottnestFerry · 09/06/2019 18:58

My thoughts are that condensation is likely to be a serious problem.

It's a single skin tent and the fabric appears to be 100% waterproof and non-breathable.

TheRedBarrows · 09/06/2019 19:20

The charm of bell tents is that they are cotton or polycotton. That one is polyester and will be hot and sweaty and you will get condensation.

Unless you will be a very fair weather camper I would look at something like this www.amazon.co.uk/Vango-Iris-500-Family-Tent/dp/B07DL8JR96?tag=mumsnetforu03-21 which is ever so easy to put up.

The Octagon one looks ok though.

I think I'm going to go for the octogon one....

hadn't really considered the impact of the fabric on the other....Blush

The vango looks good but im a big fan of space circular tents give you.

They are both single skin polyester tents with sigs. Both will have significant condensation issues. Don't sleep near the walls or touch the fly in the morning until its been well aired.

Rosewood is 4m diameter and polycotton so a half way from a heavy cotton canvas.

RottnestFerry · 10/06/2019 14:35

I'm not a fan of single skin tents, cotton or synthetic. Flysheets were invented for a reason!

That Rosewood looks like a sensible half way house though.

SwimmerGirl40 · 10/06/2019 14:37

Bookmarking as we are looking into buying our first tent. For DP, me and 2 girls under 8.

notatwork · 10/06/2019 14:40

Ignore me. The octagon has a separate fly outside the sig. Best choice of the two, Smile

MrsCharlesBrandon · 10/06/2019 15:02

@SwimmerGirl40, Go for a Coleman with the blackout bedrooms unless you want to be up at 5 in the morning!

Love bell tents OP, but agree with PPs, you need cotton or polycotton.

SwimmerGirl40 · 10/06/2019 15:08

Thank you. I’ll have a look at Coleman’s.

TheRedBarrows · 10/06/2019 15:29

The Octagon has a mesh inner - so it will protect against condensation dripping on you, but will be chilly.

I have always thought the Rosewood looks a lovely tent.

It will be heavier and bulkier to pack than a polyester tent though. And slightly more complicated to put up than a bell. But better internal space than a bell because of the straighter sides. And it is a very good quality tent at a very good price!
