Needing a wee in the middle of the night is ruining camping!

Help. I wake up then lie there thinking how I need a wee. Spend ages trying to convince myself I don't. Takes me ages to get up, trying to be quiet and not wake everyone else. Once I'm up I'm then wide awake and can't get back to sleep.
Amy suggestions?

What’s different from when you are at home? Do you go to the loo and then go back to sleep?

It does sound as the lying there thinking ‘do I? Don’t I?’ Wakes you up.

I would; get the bucket with cat litter set up. Leave it where best. Go as soon as you think you might need to. If outside the sleeping inner tent, leave an unzipped section in the door so you can slip through quietly. Get back in bag and close eyes. Do self guided meditation relaxation thoughts.

Lying wondering if you need to go is working you up and stimulating your brain, I think

Or do you drink more, away on hol? I drink loads just before bedthan usual, ,

I have a friend who swears by ‘travel janes’ for camping. They are kind of like a she wee with a disposable bag which has gel inside to make the wee solidify. Glad I am not the only one to use a nappy in times of desperation in the pouring rain in the middle of the night Blush

I always wee when I brush teeth but then once I’ve finished reading I wee again as otherwise I WILL be up at 4 am needing a wee.

I do this at home I hate camping because of the loo situation.

Really wish id thought of some of these ideas(done weeing in a pan,the noise was horrific!!)..do a lot of camping&also drink lots of tea/water..tried various things over years to avoid night time toilet trips, mainly restricting my intake after7pm but i wake up with a dry mouth&headache absolutely gasping for a water&still wee at least once but just tiny amounts...so sorry ive got no great suggestions-only sympathySmile&say that cat-litter idea is a doozy!

Whisky not wine. Brandy not beer. Go as soon as you need to, do not hang on.

What is it about camping? Is it the getting up or struggling to get back to sleep. Do you wee at home in the night?

Maybe something like a bucket would reduce the anxiety, so you know it's there and you don't need to worry about needing the loo, which might make you need the loo less?

Personally I have always just got up and gone to the loo in the night, I always need a wee in the night but I never struggle to get back to sleep. I can't imagine anything worse than squatting over a bucket, except a nappy.

Don't do a nappy, that's basically like wetting yourself on purpose! Really that's pretty gross. And what if it overflowed? At least at home you can change bedding, you can't change your sleeping bag so easily.

A bucket and a grip

I would make sure a coat/robe, crocs and torch are to hand just outside the bedroom and go to the loo block. I don't know about getting back to sleep but camping is basically why I have a kindle!
