Virgin camper needs some advice

Well, not totally virgin, but it has been 16 years... Anyway 1) are campsites ok about booking for just 1 night? 2) have i got no hope in hell of making a booking for a weekend only 2 weeks away, esp as school holidays? 3) am i completely mad to even attempt to camp when 6 months pregnant and with 2 yr old in tow? 4) made a rash decision to buy a tent without even seeing it up, as was on special offer - is the Robens Triple Dreamer any good? 5) can milk be kept cool enough just in a coolbox?

Thanks in advance for any insight

hello - welcome to the camping madhouse!ok in order

  1. depends on the site and the time of year, Bh weekends, no chance but at quieter times of the year quite probably!
  2. Once again - maybe! the weather has been soooo foul that you may get in somewhere lovely - check out the reviews on uk camping website first before you book.
  3. Nah as long as you can still get up off your airbed you'll be fine
  4. tent looks lovely!
  5. yes, buy some ice blocks to stick in the campsite freezer and freeze a carton of orange juice to take with you to keep it cool!

any help?

Wicked, thank you. Was so excited to find a whole section devoted to camping on MN, and loads of great tips. Had no idea it had become so sophisticated and required so much stuff! We used to pretty much take a tent, a trangea (sp?) and some booze and head off to the woods

Off to invest in what seems like the obligatory wind breaks and collapsable crates...
