Electric cool box

I wondered if anyone had a recommendation for an electric cool box? This is the first year that we will be having an electric hook up and we'd like to get a decent electric cool box.

We have an outwell one. It's great and runs of mains or car battery while driving. It's not very big though.

I am looking for one too!

Thanks for the bump Atalune

We have a go outdoors dual current box and use it for salad stuff and drinks, and use a mini fridge for margarine, meats and milk.

Thanks everyone I'm going to have a look at the ones posted on here. I never thought about a mini fridge will have a look at those as well.

The one we got in LIDL is really good. But with LIDL, you have to be there at the exact time they're selling them so it's pot luck.

Another thing I have considered but never got round to buying is a three-way fridge that can also run on gas. At the moment I have the electric fridge and another coolbox for when we don't have EHU. But there are some campsites where the EHU is first-come-first-served and you don't know which to bring. That would solve that problem.

We've always had Halfords ones and been really happy with them.

We have a Camping Gaz one. It's noisy though. We have a gas fridge also and tend to use that instead when on site as it doesn't need electricity and is silent in operation.

The cool box does get used when travelling.

Some great ideas thanks everyone

Just be aware that electric cool boxes cool to a certain number of degrees below ambient temperature. They don’t operate like a fridge. So in very hot weather will be unlikely to keep things really cold cold for long. ‘Cool’ boxes.

RottnestFerry · 14/05/2019 09:17

The fridges are the same, although they are generally able to maintain a wider temperature difference.

I managed to freeze everything solid in our gas fridge last summer. Ruined several bottles of beer. Sad

Mines from Aldi, its really good, keeps my wine nice and cold Smile. Stuff does need to be cold when it goes in, and in v hot weather I'll sometimes add an ice pack to help it especially as I turn it down at night as the fans a bit noisy
