French lake with watersports

Hi
A while back someone recommended a campsite by a French lake where we could hire windsurfs etc and I can't find my bookmark!
If any one knows of a good spot it would be appreciated.
Somewhere where we can cycle to nearby sites and towns rather than need to use the car would be good the icing on the cake.
Thanks!

We are staying at Camping Les Jablines near Paris this summer which has a lake with water sports, I haven’t actually been there but it has been recommended by a friend. There is also Lac du Bonnal further south and we have been looking at the sites on the Lac du Chalain for next year.

I was going to recommend lac du chalain.

Camping La Rive

Jablines came to mind straight away! Though TBH, while it has everything else you mentioned, I can't remember whether nearby towns are within cycling range. But you can check that on a map.

Fab, thank you!

These look great. Will check them all out.

Some good descriptions of the lakes in the Chambéry / Leman area. (Lac Aiguebelette is my favourite but actually, it's not all that windy in the summer, suitable for occasional surfers / beginners.)

Unsure of lake but it is in a place called Navarosse near biscarosse in the SW France.
Lots of water sports plus couple of amp sites.

Lac de Guerledan in central Brittany

We stayed in Soustons, on a lake in a campsite with both static units and sites for tents.

There was a uk sailing company operating on site, with various boats, windsurfing, paddleboards etc, and doing RYA instruction - I just can't remember their name.

We cycled to local town along country paths (not much roads necessary() and which had decent shops. And driving locally was ok.

Not far north of Biarritz or south of Bordeaux as airports to fly into.

HappyHolidays75 · 06/05/2019 11:45

@biddypop was it this place?

I didn’t go into the link, but it was Rockley who ran the water sports.

They had their own tents but we stayed in mobile home type units on the French campsite itself.

@biddypop
Thanks!
It's £595 per person all inclusive except travel if anyone else is interested. I need to read further but sounds potentially good value.

We've been to Ile rd Rd twice. Just off the main land by last Rochelle (sp). We went in a tent the first time and in a caravan the second. The place is extremely flat and we hired bikes and never used the car. Lots of water sport!
Beautiful as well. Apparently lost of Parisians have holiday homes there

Meercat2 · 06/05/2019 16:31

Ile de Re. Sorry autocorrect

Apart from the bruises when dd turfed me out a few times when we took a laser 2k ( or something like that!) together and she capsized it 4 times! I actually learned how to use a stand up paddle board, and dd and I also learned how to sail a catamaran. She also learned how to windsurf, different to her usual sailing. And dd was happy going off sailing most days while DH and I slowed down slightly. And she loved doing the "junior race" at the end of the week, and then racing past loads of adults in the main race in the afternoon - age didn't even got for the results/prize giving, just enjoyed the racing!!
