Satnav for caravans

We are still fairly new vanners. Was wondering whether a satnav specifically for towing is useful as have heebie jeebies about tiny lanes and not being able to back or turn round. We are more than capable of researching routes and I love a good map but I worry that car sat nav might take us down something not van friendly. Has anyone got a vanners sat nav and if so are they worth it and make recommendations gratefully received.

Off in my little home on wheels next week. Excited!

Hi OP, we're also new to caravanning and I wondered if you managed to find anything useful?

@MumOfTwoMasterOfNone , unfortunately no. We use a combo of usual satnav, checking out the route first and me on my ipad looking google maps. We had a tricky journey one Friday evening getting down iddly wiggly lanes to a site neat Tunbridge Wells. Was a bit squeeky in places but we managed. Still not sure it is worth the money or not.

Ahhh thank you. I looked into them on which? and online reviews and I'm not entirely sure they're worth the money either. As we're late to the game this season and won't get much chance to use our van we're sticking to fairly local sites and trying to avoid any difficult routes. We might invest next year though.

I find going on street view useful. Also reading reviews of campsites to spot any warnings of narrow entrances

We use CoPilot when caravanning. Seems to do the job.
