What are the chances of someone lending me their electric hook up to pump up my airbed - would you?

. Didn't bother getting a pitch with electricity as didn't think we needed it but just realised we need the electric pump to do the air beds.

Do you think a kindly neighbouring camper would allow me to use theirs briefly? I'm sure I would, but just wondered if this was the done thing in camping etiquette .

If not, I have visions of strapping 2 inflated double air beds to the roof of the car and bombing down the A303 .

LOL at strapping them to the roof of the car.

Have you got a cigarette lighter in the car? Ours plugs in there.

sandyballs · 12/07/2007 15:20

We have got a cigarette lighter but the pump doesn't work on that, only a normal socket.

or buy a footpump?

hana · 12/07/2007 15:26

you can buy bnattery operated ones as well

sandyballs · 12/07/2007 15:32

Haven't had much success with foot pumps or battery/cigarette lighter pumps.

I shall just have to appeal to a neighbours better nature, and offer a glass of wine or two! It's not as if it'll cost them anything, is it?

With Sandyballs, I wouldnt just march over and say hey we are your neighbours can I borrow your electricity.

Offer a drink or something, they will probably refuse and let you use it.

I would and have done on countless occasions, we even help newbies put ridiculous oversized tents up at festivals when they're too mashed to do it themselves, but I think we are quite nice, sure you will find some equally amenable campers!

munchie · 12/07/2007 16:28

I'm sure most people would help you out. we have been asked to do this in the past only thing is they got us out of bed to ask! We did oblige but weren't too happy at having to get up!

Go to argos and buy one for £6.99! Like I did today!
