Camping with dog - Help!

Hi everyone. Going camping for first time in August and we plan to bring our dog (small breed). I keep having minor panics about the practicalities of it and imagining it could be any nightmare!
Any advice would be great. Thanks

We've always camped with dogs and they've never been a problem. Just invest in one of those giant corkscrew things to tether them to and make sure they get plenty of walks off site. The only problem I can see is if your dog is the yappy type, then I can imagine it would get a bit stressful. Dogs adore camping and they are much easier to entertain and feed than children .

we take our springer who is quite a hyper dog.

The first time it was all a bit over exciting for him, surrounded by lots of other dogs and barbecues so we only took him for two days of our planned four.

We now take him every time we go and he is very good and he absolutely loves it.

Just came back from camping with our 4 mth old NSDTretriever, thought it would be tricky but it was fine, he slept in his crate at night and was tethered during the day when we were at the tent. He was able to burrow under the flysheet in the proch and we had to chase him a couple of times, but he couldn't get out of the main tent as we've got a sewn in groundsheet. Had to watch him around the barbecue too, but it was fine, he loved it. It was very handy to have a field on the site that we could walk him in, as although he was out & about with us all day, it was great to have somewhere to let him run about etc. first and last thing.

Don't worry about it - camping with a well-behaved dog is easy and great fun. We've been a few times with ours. We have one of those corkscrew-type things to tether her to.
She sleeps in the tent on her blanket (we don't bother with a crate as it takes up room in the car). The dds love it when she pushes her nose under their section of the tent to wake them in the morning - she'd be in the sleeping bags with them if they'd let her.
