I am taking my eldest granddaughter who lives with us (8 years old) for a long weekend in May to Beekse Bergen in a Safari tent. It is a surprise for her and she knows nothing about my plan, I would like to do some cooking activity with her but am stuck for ideas. Initially I thought of taking the slow cooker with me so we could prepare a cottage pie which could be cooking whilst we are out but I don't think the electric supply would cope. They say there are BBQ's does anyone know if they are gas or electric? Need to get away from TV's and Electronics for the weekend to show that there is more to life than sitting watching TV. So please any ideas, recipes would be welcomed.

We didn’t use the bbq so I don’t know if it’s gas or electric. We just used the four ring hob.
I did porridge one morning and pancakes another (used a packet mix).

You could easily make tuna balls with her www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/4463/italian-tuna-balls
Or this couscous salad www.bbc.com/food/recipes/kids_customised_couscous_17817
Burgers www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/6513/really-easy-beefburgers

You could make a little batch of cornflake cakes realfood.tesco.com/recipes/cornflake-cakes.html
