Coleman Octagon

Has anyone had one of these? We had a huge, old, 12 man Outwell, then ‘upgraded’ to an air tent which was an absolute disaster. We bought a caravan a couple of years ago which we’ve really enjoyed. We are a family of 6 with teenagers.

We’ve got a couple of potential trips coming up where it’d be easier to be in a tent, and one where it’s tents only so we definitely need to get something. Budget is non-existent...

I’m really drawn to the octagon tent. It looks so easy, whack it up and bung the beds in and we are done. The trips we’ve got ahead are only 1 or 2 nights so no need to worry about storage or cooking kit. We’d prefer a tent we can stand in rather than a dome.

Any experience of the tent or alternatives are very welcome.

We’ve got one. It’s easy peasy to put up and you can stand inside it. It’s also fairly light (as tents go) to transport. I really like it. I think it would work for your needs. However I only camp once or twice a year for a few nights and have only had his and one other not very good tent so others may have more informed views.

Thank you. I’ve just been looking on YouTube and the double mattress they’ve got in it seems to take up a lot of space. How many beds / people do you have?

Coming to this late but we have one of these, have had it for a couple of years now and we love it. So nice to be able to stand up and it's very easy to put up. The only downside is that the mesh windows make it very cold. They zip over but it's easily the coldest tent I've ever slept in.

We usually have 2 adults and 2 kids but have had an extra child in there with plenty of space

Bell tent! Look at the 10T 5m 10 person desert tent - also comes with a canopy which is great for cooking etc. I am a short middle aged woman and can lift it and erect it by myself Smile

We have this and are also a family of six. I love it and we camp quite a lot. I do, however, tend to take a little two man tent for the eldest two children (13 and 10) to give them a space to sleep undisturbed by the littlest one as well.

I had a bell tent before this tent, and I do prefer this one, mostly because the standing room is all over the tent rather than just in the middle!

Thanks everyone.

DH remained unconvinced so the trips have had to be amended to take the caravan instead. One has already happened, and I have to admit I was very grateful for the heating!!
