Hey Pootle, yes we were there round about the 18th June for a week. It was a good site with a really lovely relaxed atmosphere and DS and DH both loved the pools. We went to the beach at Barratti Bay a couple of times as well which was beautiful. I was less keen on the nearby town, San Vincenzo, as it could have been anywhere on the Med, and Piombino in the other direction was as lovely as Port Talbot (complete with its own steelworks) but they were far enough away to be ignored and you couldn't see them from the beaches. We were also didn't like the closing of the barrier for siesta time. Too hot to be walking through the site from the car park...
On the plus side, there was just something nice about it that made up for all that. Very relaxing. Good food in the restaurant, excellent supermarket. And the opportunity to sit with a beer whilst watching DS in the playground. What more could you want!

When were you there Pootle?

this company looks reasonable. We didn't go with them in the end, but the prices were so much less than Eurocamp/Keycamp

I have done a number of keycamp/eurocamp sites

  1. Carnac - not La Metiere, but Carnac Plage I think. Carnac Smallish site, nice and close to beach simple swimming pool. Good shortish walk to nice restaurants (about 10 mins)
  2. Le Clays Plage, Vendee clarys plage - went at Whitsun week so not too busy, great pool, proper supermarket next door to campsite so cheap prices, rubbish takeaway, OK bar, Nice site, but I would think a bit too busy in high season for MY liking. Good area, loads of cycling, a GREAT waterpark nearby etc etc
  3. Camping des Marais, Loire chateau des marais - fab site, my fave. Good pool (not too much simple slides but clean and nice, good play area, nice epopel good shop/bar/restaurant. Nice small site clean, safe, small and good area to visit (we are staying there for one night enroute this year and my kids can't wait, they loved it too) Only 200 pitches
  4. Camping les Tours, Averyron les tours - Beautiful area, quite remote, great site, fab pool, lake etc etc. Well designed site, GOOD shop and restaurant. Bit TOO far to go to get to other places, had to drive 30 mins to other places, not good for bikes, too hilly.

This year we are going here Cannot wait TBH, good pools, plus river, good for cycling, loads to do in area that we can cycle too (like not to use car if poss) shop, restaurant etc etc. I am very hopeful.

The last coupl eof years we have booked direct using our own kit, we go to places with Eurocamp people as our kids like finding new english friends and we find they choose the best sites in regions. However it usually costs us about 200 - 300E for a week or so, then using Tesco vouchers for ferries we get the 'eurocamp' experience for little/no cost!!! Although we have to do our own cleaning

Le garangeoire - tres belle. we were with Keycamp but Thomson had patio heaters. Had a sniff around a Eurocamp one as well, but was much of a muchenss.
We flew from Manch into La Rochelle and then picked up hire car from Avis (on Tesco bouchers). About 2.5 hours from there. Has swimming pool with slides, daily activities, crazy golf, nice restaurant, poolside bar, bike hire, little park, pony rides. We really just touted round the beaches and took packed lunches during the days, went to an aquarium, and an Aqua Park. Bought a guide book called Vendee which Ithink is by Vicky SMith and which I could probably rooot out if anybody would like to borrow. DD had a random rash but we had a letter when we got home saying they'd had a caterpillar outbreak which prob causeed it.
Kids club in the evening took les enfants from 7pm till 9,30. They LOVED it (3 and 5 years) even though all they seemed to do was watch Lion King in French and colour in.
Allb eaches were lovely and clean (DH would probably remember their names if I asked...and if he were here).
I think that's about it. Blimey - I wish I was back there now, Stockport is a little grey in comparison....

Was first forage into the keycamp type vacance so don't know if I'm, aware enoguth to have piercing insight.
Were a few families who didn't shut kids up at 10pm which was a bit annoying.
There were about 4-5 different businesses all with stuff there - keycamp, siblu, eurocamp, thomson and a green one

Rep - fairly shite but didn't need him
Bar - what do you need to know? Main hub of actiivity in the evening because right next to pool. Lovely icecreams, did have big TV screen and showed football but we did stay at base that night as not interested.
Will try and log into old email accoutn and see your CAT, Cod (but not tongiht)

Not small pitches at all.(La Sirene & Le Vieux Port)

If you want to take your own tent, at La Carabasse, Vias Plage, some pitches have their own loo & sink in a tiny building! Siblu owned site - can walk through a vineyard to the beach.

Cod - just realised what you mean about shorts dans la piscine. I didn't realise there was an issue about it but I heard it being discussed on the radio!
DH definitely wore bermuda types in the pool on site and at the Aqua Park. Only problem might be for the boys coming down the curly slide. It's the old flesh:fabric ratio - all the bikini-clad girls were whizzing down, and all the boys in their shorts were having to pull themselves along. DS was a bit upset by this (he's only 3) but then a young girl told me to "pull him a wedgie". I rolled up his shorts legs, gave the required tug...and he was off like greased lightening!

we went here

La Croix Du Vieux Pont near Berny Riviere, Paris.

Their shop was fantastic!!!!!!!! I musta gained a stone with fresh baguettes every day & croissants for breakfast!

Dh wore shorts & not trunks, though he did have his trunks in the poolside bag incase someone told him to change.

The pub was fun! 3 levels of a pub, the cellar area was where the reps hung out & played music & taught the kids dance moves to those awful songs..lol, we had karaoke one night, 2 discos, bingo.. the kids LOVED it!!

The pools were fab!

A beach.. there's a beach on that site! With a little beach side coffee house.

Also 2 huge lakes, pedalos, canoes etc.. 3 play parks for the kids & a netball/basket ball court & a football pitch.

You can also hire bikes per day.

The mobile home was lovely, basic, but lovely & clean & neat & tidy. We stayed in a villa Nova, we have 2 kids & there are 3 single beds in the 2nd room.

We took our kids to Eurodisney for a day, it was an hours drive away. TBH you don't ever have to leave the site if you don't want to! There is more than enough to do. We went to the pool every day for a few hours, we fed the ducks, we went on a pedalo, played on the swings.. chilled out.. God I can't wait to go back next year!!

But we were chatting to a woman at the poolside, she was a sales rep for Keycamp & she said her favourite site ever was the one in Switzerland
