Brexit

Is it madness to be thinking of getting a ferry to France in July? Prospect of camping in the uk for several weeks is not doing it for me

Nobody knows. There is a significant risk of it being an issue but there is a chance it could be ok. If you are happy (and can afford) to lose money then just book and wait and see.

Personally I'd be booking somewhere in the west county and hoping that'll be possible when the time comes.

TheWomanin12B · 14/02/2019 08:23

Some people have already had their bookings postponed by the ferry companies due to the government potentially requisitioning the ferries for food supplies, so I'd double check what your rights are if that happens.

TheWomanin12B · 14/02/2019 08:23

^I think that's if there is No Deal.

StellaMorris · 14/02/2019 08:28

We’ve decided that we don’t have enough time and money to take a chance on it going pear shaped, and have booked a trip to Scotland. If we have a summer like we did last year it will be lovely!

InterchangeableEmma · 14/02/2019 08:33

Sounds wise Stella. Taking a punt on there being enough/affordable enough petrol for unnecessary long distance journeys is a much safer bet, even that isn't guaranteed of course.

StellaMorris · 14/02/2019 08:41

That is a good point actually InterchangeableEmma. We’re in Yorkshire to start with, so might manage. April to August is quite a long time for things to settle down I hope!

InterchangeableEmma · 14/02/2019 08:54

Time will tell. Hopefully it'll all be just fine Smile

The uncertainty is so wearing

ImperfectTents · 14/02/2019 12:57

I want some heat! Bloody brexit ruining my holiday!

I truly hope that messing up your holiday plans for a single summer is the only impact Brexit has on you or your loved ones. That would be an amazing result.

bellinisurge · 14/02/2019 13:16

Prepper here flying to Crete for a holiday at the end of May.
Already buying Euros.

I'd place money on Bellini having booked flights with an airline based either in the UK or her destination country. I think it's fair to say most people wouldn't think of such potential issues...

Ylvamoon · 14/02/2019 16:45

I wouldn't worry to much... life (holidays) have to go on.
I don't think that anyone wants to miss out on Brits spending money in EuroLand. BTW we are booked for August...

TheWomanin12B · 15/02/2019 17:24

You can't just wish the problems of No Deal away with "ah, I'm sure someone will sort it". It doesn't work like that. You should probably be paying more attention Ylva.

Ylvamoon · 15/02/2019 18:07

There are 4 months / 16 weeks from March- August... SOMETHING will be sorted by than... if indeed there is a no deal.

Well, they've had rather longer than that to sort out a smooth exit from the EU. I'm not utterly convinced the current government is capable of sorting out a lunch order.
