Anyone any experience of caravanning with a dog in France - we are thinking of taking ours with us this year. Brittany is possibility but a mountain lake is another one.

Yes we have, very straightforward (although could change with No deal Brexit).

What specifically do you want to know? You can PM me if you wish.

We looking at going to Annecy this summer, I am just trying to research campsites and was wondering whether to start a thread asking for recommendations.

Actually with our dog, we have been to a site in S Brittany (near Sarzeau), one in Dordogne, and some in Switzerland.

It's great fun. We've also camped with ours. Book direct is easy, not all eurocamp caravans take dogs but the direct site owned ones usually do. We also booked last year with firefly. They were really good and allowed dogs.

Beware brexit and dog.vaccination.rule changes.though

What is your breed of dog?

I was also going to say that the pet passport is an EU agreement as far as I'm aware, so you may or may not be able to take your pet abroad after Brexit. Even worse, you my be allowed to take him to France but be refused re-entry to the UK.

Do you own your own caravan or would you be looking at going in static? We have our own outfit, not sure about taking them in statics but am sure others have experience of that.

Re Brexit, there seems to be a number of possibilities floating around - worst case is probably the current pet passport plus rabies blood test, which would be in line with non-EU countries - see link below.

In terms of returning into country, the link above states there will be no change and also details what you need to do in terms of seeing a vet so many days before return journey. We have found it very straightforward on our trips.

Apologies, the link says a health certificate and rabies blood test if it’s a No Deal scenario.

But rhe rabies blood test is the crucial bit, even though no one yet knows if it will be needed!
