Cornwall for novices

Hello

We are novice campers - got some kit at the end of last summer and had one trip which we loved (family of 4 with 2 9 year olds)

We fancied a few days in Cornwall this year either in the whitsun half term or early summer hols and I am guessing we need to book now!

We will be in a tent, not too bothered re hook ups. Would like somewhere smallish and quiet but with space for dds to roam and near enough to a pub and a beach. Happy for it to be low tech as long as there are clean loos and faintly useable showers.

Will be travelling to/from south Devon as we are stopping off to see family and have a travel sick child so don't want a massively long journey from there. I haven't been to Cornwall since I was 6 and dh has never been.

Can anyone suggest anywhere? Last time we had a lovely site on a farm and it was like being in an Enid blyton story

Not sure about driving time from your family but we had a lovely time here www.coastalfarmholidays.co.uk/index.html we even extended our trip and stayed an extra few nights keeping dd off school 🤫

Treveague Farm is lovely and relaxed. It's well located with lots of space for the children to explore www.treveaguefarmcampsite.com

The campsite at Gwithian is nice, not wild/ no frills at all but quite small, not too ‘done’ with a lovely short walk to the beach.

sleepismysuperpower1 That looks good. Its a 40 minute drive from me, & I had no idea it was there! Blush

We stayed on a farm near porthowen? A few years back, basic just toilets and showers (£1) but only £8 per tent no extras. Was 10 mins from an amazing surf beach and the farms border collie took a liking to my kids and kept visiting us! Fresh eggs from the farm house, otherwise shops, pubs in town. The big sites have facilities but expect to pay £30 + a night in school hols which I find ridiculous, I prefer rustic camping or even wild camping. (We stay in a static caravan for only £450 a week which has a toilet and shower of course!)
