My DH and I have decided we're going to start camping again but taking with us our 8yr old and 3yr old....not done this before with the kids!! We camped alot when we were 'singlies'...! Does anyone know of any decent, clean campsites suitable in Hants/Berks please? I can't stand queueing for the loo/shower and they have to be clean facilities!!!

As a cub assistant leader many years back, I remember taking children camping at Wellington Country Park. Can't vouch for what it is like now, but worth a look.

Went there today, but not for camping, so didn't see the camping facilities but it looks quite good from the website, if perhaps a little costly. Cost includes entry to the Country Park though, so two playgrounds for your children to play on, lakeside walk.

Hi nannynick - that's extremely helpful - I have been there as a visitor before and never considered it as a campsite. Thank you for the link - I will definitely look into booking up with them. Cheers!

pmsl at "good clean campsites" somehow

i know what you mean but its somehow funny

Yeah....I know what you mean...I made it sound like I didn't want to go to some campsite that resembled 'Carry on Camping'!! But what I meant was it had to be clean as in hygienically clean not some grubby old shed in the middle of a field with a bucket full of water for a shower and a hole in the ground for a loo!

The forestry commission has quite a few sites in the new forest. One dh & I have stayed at was hollands wood which was very clean. Only suggestion I would make if staying there is not to pitch too close to the main road as you sometimes get the local boyracers speeding past at 3am beeping their horns.

Alternatively, this is a good website for finding campsites (with reviews). ukcampsites

We recently stayed at the Ashurst campsite. It was very nice and ideally set up for children of your age.
