Anyone been camping at Kessingland?

Is the caravan and camping club site any good? Any other recommendations?

Woo hoo, first trip this year. Can't wait. There is a safari park nearby, look really good - Africa Alive.

don't leave me on the unanswered threads! bumping myself to annoy the anti-campers.

My parents own a holiday home there .

It's good for kids - loads of wild beaches to run around on and all the fresh air you can take.

The washing up area for campers looks a bit naff IMHO - it's an open-sided shed! but other than that I can't comment on the camping facilities. You can get free kids tickets for AA in the office as well.

DC are going to Africa Alive on a nursery trip next week.
Sorry, don't know about the campsite itself, as we only live 15 miles away......
Can tell you that there's a big Morrison's nearby in south Lowestoft. Lowestoft itself is rather horrible, I'm afraid to say, although the beaches are nice.

we went to kessingland beech and loved it we was in a static but loved it all and the safari next to it is grt

There's a fantastic car boot sale right next to that campsite on Sundays - worth going for that alone!
If the weather is rubbish, I highly recommend the soft play centre at Pakefield - Treasure Cove (something piratey anyway) -near Morrisons.

when are you going? lowestoft have an air show at the end of july (26th and 27th) which is free to watch as you can sit on the beach and watch everything going on.

worleyhorley - my DC were born at the James Paget in Gorleston, does that count???? (As visiting G Yarmouth, I mean). Ah, but but but, Yarmouth had a 'Next' first, so I think it's going up in the world.......

Pakefield beach is nice, and very handy (and overlooked by DH's office window, good job I'm not jealous!).
There is a beach at Kessingland - must admit I've never actually been there, which is a bit daft - we tend to stick to either Pakefield or go down to Southwold, which is completely different but lovely, and handier for our home. How old are your DC? - I can let you know what mine think of the Africa place, but then they are only 4-next-month and nearly two.......

The Kessingland beach isn't a maintained beach - it's shingle/grass with a little bit of sand down near the waterline. It's not really ideal for swimming/sunbathing as it was near there a man was swept out to sea last year and drowned (mind it was blowing a gale at the time). Lowestoft beach in between the two piers is good for kids as it's clean and that's where the toilets/cafes etc are. It's good to run around on for ball games and you get lots of dog walkers down there.

Havent been to that one (have been to kessingland and didnt like it BUT was a nightmare- weather, traffic caused 8 hour journey- etc so more me than the palce iyswim).

Caravan and camping sites are rreliable though, been to many and always OK.

you should be there for the air festival then.
walberswick is good , there is a pebblysand beak but very good for crabbing, my ds1 is 8 and loves the crabbing days out we have.

he wasnt too keen on the wildlife park when we last went when he was 6/7 more interested in the adventure playground area, but he did enjoy the falconry displays.
