There is a company groundsheet.co.uk where you can hire a car, tent and camping equipment they deliver and meet you at the airport. Prices are ok saves on loads of messing about especially if you don't have all the right equipment. Not to mention travel time. We ended up in the Spanish and French Pyrenees with 2 children :)
