Best camping bed (not air!)

After having two air beds deflate during our last camping trip, we're ready to invest in an actual camp bed.

We'd like a double, as large as possible as DH is 6'9 but he's prepared to have his feet hanging off a bit Grin. Any recommendations please?

We use a SIM. Vango 10cm. Technically has air but isnt like the airbeds as doesnt deflate.

I took a chance on a double camp bed from Go Outdoors. I wanted a double SIM, but the camp bed was half price and much cheaper than a SIM. I love it! It’s Go Outdoors’ own brand (is that Eurohike? I forget). It’s bulky to pack but dead easy to set up and down.

HiGear! Not Eurohike. It’s that one. It was cheaper than that, though. I think we paid £55.

Try fishing places and sites. Their beds are often better than the ones in camping departments.

Was going to say fishing bed - you can adjust each leg so if the ground is uneven to can still be level

We have a vango sim prefer it to camp beds

Ooh yeah, I’ve heard good things about the fishing bed-chair things! They look very comfy.

You need a triple height air bed.

I say this on all these threads.

But it’s true you do.

Even if it deflates a bit (which it won’t really) you’re still miles from the floor. And sooo comfy.

Self inflating mattress. We've got Outwell dream catcher, 10cm. Air beds are cold because the air gets cold. Friends had camp beds, but also said they were cold and creaky!

We have two singles (because I not a fan of sharing an actual proper bed with him!) I'd love a double to myself though.

DENMAN03 · 08/08/2018 22:29

I tried inflating beds for years. Finally got a fishing bed, which is extra wide and super comfy. I would never go back to an air bed now.

We've got camp beds with a sim on top for comfort and to keep the cold air out, just make sure you have a blanket on top of the camp bed to stop the cold air getting to you.
