How long will cooked chicken last in a cool box

First time camping.

Taking coolbox with frozen milk and frozen bolognese for first night and freezer blocks too of course.

Just wondering whether if I put cooked chicken in it at 8am on Sunday morning whether it would be safe to eat as chicken fajitas on mon evening 6pm ish?

Do not want food poisoning on a campsite!!!!

DH has done so with no ill effects.....we packed coolbox on the monday am before leaving, including chicken leftovers from Sunday might. DH had them as a snack on tuesday evening, and was fine

Great thanks. We’re strong of stomach but just wanted to check!

no worries....it really helps if you can pre-chill your coolbox too. I fill big milk bottles with water, freeze them and then let ad them into the coolbox 24-36 hours before packing it. that way you're putting cold stuff in a coolish place

Ooh thanks. I’ll do that tomorrow as don’t go till Sunday

What about cooking the chicken then freezing it?

Borris · 02/08/2018 23:06

That’s a good idea. Frozen in chunks

We have never done it with chicken but we've done it with burgers and they've always been fine. Especially as you're putting frozen food too as well as your cool packs they should be totally fine.

Fajitas are a fab idea! Will have to remember that for next time we go!
