We're going to Eskdale tomorrow - you've given me hope! Just looking at the weather forecast and considering booking a hotel but sod it, what's a bit of rain...

CristinaTheAstonishing · 30/05/2007 15:58

We are going camping Fri-Sun. I hope the rain will stop and the ground will get dry and the sun will come up and...

twinsetandpearls · 30/05/2007 16:21

I have never been to eskdale actually.

CristinaTheAstonishing where are you going?

We are going with DS's Woodcraft Folk group on the Surrey/Sussex border, near Lurgashall. I thought about not going but I've been very busy with all sorts of things these past 3 weeks and I want to be with the DCs and nothing else to distract me for a few days.

brandnewhelsy · 30/05/2007 19:55

I'll tell you what it's like Twinset

marymoocow · 30/05/2007 22:41

we're going on our first ever trip out. If ds survived last weekend with the cubs i'm sure we'll be fine. However it is us putting the tent up this time and not his scout leaders
dh finally realising just how cold it could be - he's invested in some old men pjs

FeelingOld · 30/05/2007 22:51

We camped last weekend and it would have been extremely cold and miserable without our halogen heater.

marymoocow · 30/05/2007 22:55

don't worry we've already bought one of those. got lots of blankets too.
dh just found some waterproof trousers as well. i'm really beginning to see a different side to him

twinsetandpearls · 31/05/2007 01:08

we bought a heater which was well used last weekend.

We're going to Hay on Wye. I'm looking forward to it so much, but am dreading the rain. I can cope with cold as long as i'm dry.

Any tips for keeping dry and warm, bearing in mind we're going by public transport so need to be able to carry everything!!

I'm putting leggings and a hat in even though it's June

twinsetandpearls · 31/05/2007 11:23

yes take a hat, I bought the fleecy prjamas from primark.

We have a small heater as well.

Make use of your sleeping bags!

We are heading off to Pitlochry late tomorrow afternoon for 3 nights (our local schools have a Monday holiday next week). Luckily the weather forecast for that area seems to be improving - I don't want dd's first camping experience in a tent to be cold and wet. This is a trial run with our new tent before a 10 day holiday in July, so a little rain to test the waterproofness will not be too unwelcome......

tinytotmummy · 31/05/2007 14:41

Have just decided to abandon our camping trip to Falmouth based on the heavy rain forecast. Wimped out and booked caravan instead!

twinsetandpearls · 05/06/2007 15:42

our camping weather was wonderful lots of sun and no rain

We had a lovely sunny weekend, aprt form 2 hours' rain on Thursday evening, and Twinset Eskdale is beautiful, loads of running around space, not as touristy as WIndermere.
