What tent for first time camper - family of 3/4

I'm after some advice please. I'm going to go camping with my kids in August in the UK. Just going for 2 nights to see if we like it. I haven't been camping since I was a kid and we never put a tent up as we did Eurocamp so I have no idea what to expect.

Budget is up to £100. I don't want to spend a lot as we may hate it. Other complicating factor is whether I get something big enough so DH could come sometimes if we do like it or just suitable for the 3 of us.

I was planning to eat out so I don't have to worry about food.

I was wondering about the following as I've seen them online but I've no idea if they are good or big enough etc.

Eurohike Cairns 5 deluxe or the 4 deluxe. Bigger one is £80, smaller is on offer for £56. Decathlon Quechua 4.1 for £80. Also seen a Trespass 4 man 2 room blow up tent for £100 at Argos.

Any thoughts? I want to be able to put it up myself. I'm going with a friend and her kids this time but if I like it in future it'd be nice for me to be able to take the kids myself.

If you want a tent for four people, two kids (how old are they?) you would be better with a larger tent with two rooms so you can stand in it and move around, get changed etc. The smaller 4 person tents are too low and you can't stand up. There will be no space for any clothes/bags etc.

Personally I'd go for something like this www.decathlon.co.uk/arpenaz-family-41-id_8378237.html

I've had decathlon tents for years and they are fine for odd camping, not heavy rain stuff or trekking.

The one from argos has two bedrooms, with space in between. Would your children be happy to sleep in a different area than yours? Would they fight to sleep in the same compartment as yours?

Thanks Two. Kids are 5 and 7. I think they'd be fine in together but I did wonder if I'd feel happier with them in with me.

The decathlon tent was one of the ones I was looking at. Could I pitch that on my own do you think? You clip the bedroom in on it, is that good?

I would always go with a decathlon one over other cheaper brands. The video is great to show you how to put it up. I can’t see why you wouldn’t be able to put it up on your own. The dc might need to lend a helping hand.
