Is Go Outdoors still value for money? Millets? Amazon? No idea where to start! We haven't camped in a few years so will be topping up on some essentials and stuff for kids that we didn't have before (2 DC under 3) Confused

Decathlon is brilliant for lots of kit. It's like the ikea of camping shops.

Go outdoors is pretty good. Aldi has camping stuff a few weeks ago if their is any left in store.

Specialist independent camping shops are great; Cross Camping near Cambridge, SK (?) in Surrey, a good one near Norwich. Great. Knowledgable advice on tents. Care, life expectancy of a high v low denier polyester, etc.

Go Outdoors is amazing if you can do their price match - I’ve not paid full price in there for years. In addition, you get a discount if your child is in the scouts.

I do go to Decathlon a lot too now for basic things like air beds, tables etc. (The description of it upthread as the IKEA of camping shops is just perfect!)

Go Outdoors is great. They also give 10% discount to members of the Camping and Caravan Club so if you are considering an expensive shopping trip it's almost worth paying the £39 C&CC membership to get the discount!

Depends what you want really - for 'nice' stuff we go to a localish big independant shop (and also to drool over the new tents on display). For a stock up of bits like mallets, pegs, water bottles its Go Outdoors or Decathlon.

Aldi can be worth a check online for kids stuff, and if you know what you want from a brand, Amazon prices are worth checking.
