Eurocamp/Canvas/Roan - what's the difference?

I know it's not strictly 'camping' but for the past few years we have booked holidays with Eurocamp to France and Holland. Generally very happy with the experience but thoughts already turning to next year. We're hoping to go a bit further afield, possibly Italy, and both Roan and Canvas are doing much better early booking discounts than Eurocamp. Has anyone used Roan or Canvas before? We're not bothered about children's clubs and we are generally pretty self-contained once we're there (so don't need the couriers much). Would be interested in the experiences of others, as it could save us several hundred pounds.

I thought they were just similar companies - same type of thing but possibly different accommodation?

I'd say the eurocamp vans are slightly nicer than the canvas ones - the top of the range canvas ones are nice, and as good as eurocamp, but some of the others can be older and quite basic/well used. We've been with both companies, but not Roan.

They're only in France but we love Huttopia for 'camping'. Off to check out your ideas for Italy though!

We've done canvas and eurocamp in Italy... Not much in it, we go with whoever is cheaper. Last year canvas had upgraded everything on the Italian site so looked better, but according to the eurocamp reps, there's also were about to be upgraded for this year too.

We've been with all 3 over the last 15 years!
Roan mobiles are nicer - much more modern. However they don't have an oven and you have to book a checkout inspection to make sure you've cleaned it well!

Yes I thought to Roan mobiles looked more modern and I had heard that you are expected to clean thoroughly before you leave (with Eurocamp we have always swept and tidied but not a thorough clean). I suppose that partly accounts for the price difference. Not sure if Canvas is the same?

A lot depends on the age of them. So you could get an old eurocamp one and a new canvas one, on one site and the reverse on another.
Or different ages on the same site.

Ask for the reps direct contact details at the sites you are interested in. We've done this in the past and offered to take over anything small that they may be missing from home. It may help in the allocation of vans Grin
