"Threee more sleeps 'til camping!" I keep telling my dds.

So I guess really I ought to be getting some stuff together hadn't I?

Okay I'll start with a few basics:-

Tent
Tent Pegs
Hammer
Sleeping Bags
Duvets for extra comfort and warmth
Pillows
Camp beds
Wind breakers
Gas Hob
Cooking stand
Gas bottle
Torches/Lamps
Fridge (Just bought our first one! )
Washing up bowl
Washing up liquid
Dish cloths
Tea towels
Plates
Bowls
Knives
Forks
Spoons
Tin Opener
Bottle Opener
Corkscrew (more important than the tent IMO!!)

I know there's much, much more. Anyone care to help me.

we pack lots of outdoorsy games like bat and ball, frisbee and a kite and some card in case it rains.

twinsetandpearls · 24/05/2007 17:07

fridge - that is luxury talk here!

Sparkler1 · 24/05/2007 17:09

twinsetandpearls · 24/05/2007 17:16

chairs
table
bin bags
spare batteries
first aid kit.

Surfermum · 24/05/2007 17:19

Table and chairs
Frying pan and saucepans
Cups (or are you drinking out of the bottle as per usual)

Sparkler1 · 24/05/2007 17:27

Of course Surfer - you taught me everything I know.

You think I'm posh with my fridge - surfermum has a wardrobe - ooooooooooooooohhh!

Trailer to put all the stuff in

Then think "sod it, if I'm going to have a trailer, then I may as well have a trailer tent and have the beds off the floor...."

slayerette · 24/05/2007 17:36

Two things I missed off the list first time round and take now:

dustpan and brush
bag to stuff dirty laundry in

TricityBendix · 24/05/2007 17:40

Something to put food in, you'll have boxes of cereals, bread, biscuits etc which you don't want to go in the posh fridge. I take a couple of those collapsible crates cos otherwise everything ends up strewn around the tent.

twinsetandpearls · 24/05/2007 17:41

thanks slayerette added a dustpan and brush to our pile!

katelyle · 24/05/2007 17:55

Warm layers
Hot water bottles (whatever the weather!)
A flask to fill with boiling water at night for the first hot drink in the morning\
Baby wipes (millions of uses!)
A game or two in case it rains (Uno is good because everyone can play, it doesn't matter if you lose a card or two and there's no board to tip over)
If you're us, coffee pot, filters and real coffee
Digestive biscuits to tide people over if the food's late
ENORMOUS quantities of wine
A collapsible plastic box for each person so that STUFF can be contained.
More warm layers
Night time cuddlies if you're into that sort of thing
Torches
Insect repellent
Tea lights (for late night atmosphere)
Books
More warm layers

purpleduck · 24/05/2007 18:13

Sparkler, we have a fridge too, it is now sitting on the counter getting colder as we speak!!

Last year we got a few of this big crates and put all the camping gear in them, then they just went straight up to the loft (after cleaning!!) when we got back, taking care to put in anything i had forgotten.

ooh, lots of bags for rubbish...

I make up burgers and freeze them.
Those insulated cup thingy's for tea -keeps the bugs out

Sparkler1 · 24/05/2007 20:31

Some nice ideas - thanks

Katelyle - does the water stay hot in the flask until the morning? What's the idea with that then? Do you make a hot bedtime drink and use the rest of the boiling water for the morning?

Can I add

Suncream

Just been to Asda and bought some - got a good offer as well - reduced from £13 to £5. I'm hoping for some good weather

This is a brilliant thread. I'm going to print it and keep it for future reference.

willywonka · 24/05/2007 20:46

We always seem to forget pillows and towels and whilst you can cope without, it's nicer to not have to.

Ivor · 24/05/2007 20:53

washing stuff, shampoo etc
First aid kit
and matches / spare lighter

have fun
Second the wine box idea, the empty containers make nice little pillows or play floats for the kids

Spider · 24/05/2007 20:55

Foam ear plugs in case of noisy neighbours or overly enthusiastic early birds.

Clothes line and lots of clothes pegs.

Slip on shoes to put inside the tent.

Wipes and more wipes.

Oh, and a shewee.

slayerette · 24/05/2007 21:54

Oh God yes - don't forget your earplugs!

Sparkler1 · 25/05/2007 23:55

Tin opener
Bin Liners
Kitchen Towel
