Taking dog camping?

We're quite new to camping and dogs and wondering if it's a good idea or not to take ddog camping with us this summer. How do others do this? What happens if you want to go to the beach, supermarket, shops, lunch etc? Especially in this hot weather.

We take our dogs camping, and they go everywhere with us - we just choose dog friendly beaches, cafes etc, and someone waits with them outside supermarkets etc. On site, we do leave them in their crate in the shade for a bit when swimming etc but they are used to being crated

We take our two camping often. It's surprisingly easy. Dog friendly pubs cafes beaches long walks etc.

Same as above, take her camping. Have the long lead for campsite and then dog friendly pubs, cafes etc.
I think having the dog makes entertaining - going places etc difficult at times - i.e. last trip we went on speed boat trip so DH had to stay with the dog- but worth it, I miss her otherwise. We're not taking her on our main summer trip and I know I'm going to miss her.

We take our two too. We pack the stakes that you drive into the ground to clip them onto so we can let them loose

Aldi have those steak dog leashes online for a fiver at the mo. Just treated our dog to one before our first camping trip with him.

My worry is that he will be an irritating woofer and we will will spend hours throwing him a bloody ball to shut him up! He is rather fabulous tho so it will be lovely to have him with us.

Stakes not steaks, although I think dog would far prefer the latter!

I go camping on my own with two kids under 10 and our dog. The dog is so much easier than the kids.

Mines a woofer if people pass but I make windbreak walls which are surprisingly effective (after the first hour that is- during which time she's too wound up and excited to be anything but a nuisance)

If you want a day trip that's not dog friendly you can book them into a local dog sitter. You will need their vaccination card though.
