What camping/caravanning treat can I put on my birthday list?

We have a caravan. I love it, love my holidays in it, and we have mostly got the kit we need to have a good holiday. But would really like to think of a few things that I could ask for for my birthday that are either super practical and didn't know I needed, or treats for when we are away. Any ideas, what would be on your birthday wish list?

A cobb? Though I supppse you can cook in your caravan

chickenchip · 15/05/2018 21:55

Some lovely good quality fairy lights

Badgertastic · 15/05/2018 21:57

A cadac would be top of my list 😊

We have a tent so we don't have proper beds. I'd love a dream catcher sim, the really thick one.

museumum · 15/05/2018 22:00

Following.

We have a camper an and a couple of excellent Joseph Joseph kitchen things.

AalyaSecura · 15/05/2018 22:17

raindrop I have a caravan and dreamcatcher sims Blush from camping days - they are fab but I was still lured by the caravan luxuries! The kids now have really comfy sleepovers with the sims!

Cooking stuff could be an option - we have a small gas BBQ which we use a lot, cooking in the van is fine in winter but in the summer outside is much better. We have an external socket, I'd wondered about a teppanyaki grill...

A night in a hotel for the comfy bed and decent shower.

profpoopsnagle · 16/05/2018 06:51

A hammock.

BiddyPop · 16/05/2018 15:33

I just upgraded my Thermarest to a Vango camping cot as I am getting old learn to value my sleep more (I mostly camp with Cubs these days and I am the "go to" leader to wake in the middle of the night....).

A fire pit that you can hang a tripod over for cooking/relaxing with wine?

clairethewitch70 · 16/05/2018 15:37

grannycake · 16/05/2018 15:40

We have a motorhome and duvalay bedding is wonderful but £££s

BiddyPop · 16/05/2018 15:51

Decent plastic clickable storage containers (to keep food in and damp/pests out)?

AalyaSecura · 16/05/2018 21:57

@grannycake, do you find duvalays hot in warm weather? I'm tempted but worried about whether we'd find it too hot in high summer in say southern France.

Memory foam mattress toppers. Aldi right this minute for £20. Awesome.

itchyknees · 16/05/2018 22:01

A few Swedish Fire logs for easy night fires.

itchyknees · 16/05/2018 22:02

Really posh hot chocolate.

itchyknees · 16/05/2018 22:02

Motor mover!

itchyknees · 16/05/2018 22:03

Awning for on the side - either a tent one or a shade one.

AalyaSecura · 16/05/2018 22:04

Love my motormover, first thing I got when we bought the caravan. Aldi eh, might need to try to get there then, cheaper than duvalays, so could be good to try out.

It’s caravan week there! Steps, various liquids, covers, it’s ace!

TooTrueToBeGood · 16/05/2018 22:11

What about some kit to improve your mobile connectivity? I've got this company bookmarked for when I finally get my van:
www.motorhomewifi.com
Might give you some ideas.

Petalflowers · 16/05/2018 22:18

Silly billy - I like your way of thinking!

However, back to op’s post.

@AalyaSecura The duvalays we bought included 2 separate duvets - winter and summer weight so we haven't found them too hot despite hols in the summer in France and Spain

Ellapaella · 17/05/2018 21:44

We've just bought a camper van and had our first outing last weekend. I've never camped much before other than with friends from back home usually in the south of England. I live up north now and it's a different ball game up here.. my ugg boots were my friends last weekend! Warm toasty feet are an absolute must! So I'd recommend some really nice warm camping slippers with rubber soles so you can walk to the toilet block in them.

Ellapaella · 17/05/2018 21:45

Although to be fair you probably already have warm feet sorted Grin
