Any tips for camping in Italy and places to break the journey en route?

Which part of Italy are you thinking? We're considering the Italian lakes this year and I'm also looking for suggestions of nice camp sites.

Yes! We camped near Venice last year (Eurocamp type place) Kids LOVED it!

(We flew though, so no worries about stops)

What type are you talking about? Tent, touring caravan, static caravan, lodge?
Beach? Mountains? Lakes?

Hi, are you driving or flying in? We've stayed in Eurocamp statics for the last 2 years around Lake Garda. The first year we flew into Verona, had a few days there and then picked up cars and stayed at Altomincio campsite. It was a really great campsite, especially if you have small kids(I do) as cars are not allowed park onsite. Lots of parking available very close by though. Last year we used the Eurotunnel and drove across France, with many stops and went to Camping Eden in Salo. Again a great site, but bigger and busier. It's right on the lake though with it's own private beach area and jetty, which was popular with the kids for jumping in. The views from this site are spectacular.
I HTH :)
