Can anyone recommend a campsite?

Looking to go at the start of May for a weekend for my birthday. Just want a cheap site where DD can play with some kids and we can relax around a fire. No fancy facilities required or desired!
This is my wishlist:

  • Must allow fires
  • Not too pricey
  • Good for kids to play (but no special facilities needed)
  • Within around 2.5 hours of N Derbyshire

We loved Gibraltar Farm on Morecambe Bay but they don't allow fires :(

Sorry I'm not sure of the travelling distance but this is one of our favourite campsites. They allow fires and it is also in a "dark sky" area so no light pollution, sitting around the fire at night and watching the stars is amazing!

It is also on a working farm so great for the kids, they can help with the animals, collect the eggs from the chickens! It is so laid back and James the owner is very friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend it.

Thanks mrsflems. It's a bit of a drive so may be out this time, but it looks lovely! Will definitely add it to the list for later in the year.
