Me. Many moons ago now.

Tis bloody gorgeous and if you're lucky you'll even see dolphins swimming in the bay.

There's a set distance between pitches and it's all nooks and crannies so very secluded and private in parts.

Has security to get on so relatively secure. Had a site shop and bar.

As for the weather- you're in the UK so it's anyone's guess

ohh we went last year and it is lovely. Was quite windy when we went last may bank holiday but the sun was out aswell.
Fantastic as you just pitch wherever you want, we went with friends and picthed opposite each other but nobody was around. They also have security who drive around after 11pm to tell people to keep loud music down etc. We will definetly go back as facilities were great.

lissielou · 12/05/2007 08:45

nemo, which bank hol? i was there in whit week!

gladbag · 12/05/2007 08:47

Can't help with recent knowledge, but just wanted to say that my family went there every Easter for years during the 70s, and I have the most fantastic memories. Lovely lovely place. We had cowrie collecting competitions - the beaches are covered in them. I went back about 8 years ago, and it was much more developed, but in a good way. Watch out for the estuary road - I can remember wading and pushing our VW camper through the incoming tide when it had stalled as we were desperately trying to get back onto the island after a day out (my dad was never one for health and safety).

lissielou · 12/05/2007 08:47

how old is lo?

Nemo2007 · 12/05/2007 08:49

lissielou the bank holiday at end of may[can never remember if that is whit or not]. We will probably look to go back this year as Ds loved it and DD1 is old enough to enjoy toddling around it this year.

Nemo2007 · 12/05/2007 08:50

If you say shell island to DS his favourite thing is the fact he went crab fishing and caught 4 crabs. Also love the fact you can have a proper camp fire!!

lissielou · 12/05/2007 08:54

we would have been there at the same time! how odd!

Nemo2007 · 12/05/2007 08:55

We went to visit for the day last Whit lissielou - gorgeous weather but soooooo windy. The wind stung our legs in shorts - there seemed to be lots of white vans and the portaloos at the quiet end of the site looked erm interesting. There were a lot of jellyfish on the beach at low tide too, so take your beach shoes.

giraffeski, there are some of my photos here the first couple are In N Ireland but the middle 4 are Shell Island.
