We can't really afford a big holiday this year so trying to do it on a budget but want somewhere with ideally better weather then the uk!!! Quite nervous about driving in another country so would not want to drive to far in the other side. Our nearest port is Plymouth so would probably like to sail from there. Any, Amy advice or recommendation would be great as I am completely clueless but desperate for a family holida 😁

For a good value budget holiday look at Matthews as they have some good sites in the Vendée, so a few hours from Cherbourg or Caen and better weather than Brittany.
Better still if you can get to the CharenteMaritime region which has a lovely climate.

Dol de Bretagne Eurocamp/Keycamp in Brittany/Normandy border is lovely. Great swimming pools indoor and out, lazy river and slides; pony rides and proper riding school; archery, climbing wall and zip wire for adults/older DC; several playparks, rowing boats, hire cycles. Pizzeria on site; lovely restaurants bnearby, great market in nearby town. Day trips to Mont St Michel, St Malo and beaches. Really easy to get to via Portsmouth-Caen or Poole-Cherbourg

Sorry - Dol campsite is called Les Ormes

We’ve had a week at Les Mouettes which is a Yelloh sure. Very close to Roscoff. Free bus into the little resort town of Carantec from the site. Site has amazing pool complex. Might be cheaper to book through Brittany Ferries and get crossing included although you have missed the early booking discount.

We're going to Domaine Des Ormes in August via Canvas Holidays. Fastcat from Portsmouth to Cherbourg then a couple of hours drive - it's nearer St Malo port but the crossing was almost twice the price.

Durrell in Holland is great cheap if camping with fun fair and swing pool to rival centre parks free to use.

Commander - we loved it there. Hope you have a great time.
