ready bed vs travel cot

Hello all
We're off camping in the new forest for our summer holiday - first time with DD in tow who will be 18m when we go. We have to take the travel cot with us because we're staying with friends before the camping trip. I'm just not sure it will fit in the tent though. We're cheating and have booked a 'ready tent' so not sure of the type of tent, just that it is a fancy big one with three bedrooms
Anyone used a ready bed with an 18m old camping? I haven't bought one yet as my worry is that she would slip down under the covers. She's a very wriggly sleeper! I would probably put her in a gro-bag then into the ready bed. I'm not worried about her falling out, more getting trapped. Anyone used one and found it ok? We will have camp beds in the tent, so she can't really sleep between us.

I would have thought that a ready erected tent would be a big frame type and you would have enough room for the travel cot.

can you phone the site and ask them?

if you wanted to opt for a ready bed then maybe one like this one - no12 on the page would be a safer bed as they won't roll off it as easily.

no advice about ready beds, but we went camping last year with ds 2.3 then, we had a big travel cot and it was great, he played in it when we were cooking, slept in it at nap times(he would not have slept well given the opportunity to roll around I think), though this year we will be camping without travel cot, at least you have the option, you can see if you can get the travel cot in, which I think by the sound of the three bedroomed tent you will, it is very handy to have a travel cot imo

Thanks folks... Lucycat, I can't seem to get that link to show me anything ready-bed like!
I think you're right Aefondkiss, we're taking the travel cot, and it does seem likely it'll fit. I wouldn't like to think she could escape - she's very good with zips these days!

oops sorry, try any better?

Nope, don't think it's your linking skills, it's their website. What is the product called and I'll look for it.
Thanks again!

It was just a suggestion really

The website is Studio24 and I typed child's air bed or something like that into their keyword search, it's £9.99 and made of a blue plasticy type stuff, but it ghas 'sides' to stop rolling out all over the tent!

its described as childs air bed (I looked it up too)

We've used a Thomas the Tank Enging ready bed with ds1 since he was 18 months ish - ds2 needed travel cot! - and he loves it - always sleeps really well in it - and if I start packing stuff to go away he starts saying "Harrys train bed, Harrys train bed until i put the blimming thing where he can see we're taking it! If you get a toddler one they are quite short and there is a split between top of cover and bit they lie on IYSWIM so they don't get tangled - only prob would be if she was a wanderer!

We've had 2 ready beds and both seemed to go down in the night every time they were used. We ended up binning ours. I think travel cots are great for camping and would try to use them for as long as possible. They keep the baby warm, secure and are most like the bed they are used to at home.

Thanks all. Might buy a ready-bed or similar if I feel like investing in one for future, then can take and use if we need to... will let you know how we get on (although trip not until end June - just getting excited at prospect of a holiday!)
