Not much to do unless you like walking/climbing (or driving to other places) and looking at the grave of a dead dog, which probably didn't actually exist and was most probably invented by a victorian hotelier, but if I remember rightly, the icecream shop is FANTASTIC....

martianbishop went last Whit - check out her review on ukcampsite.

we went to visit it (and to spot their tent )and it looks like a lovely site, quite midgy though and about a mile down the road to Beddgelert village itself.
It will take about 20/30 minutes to get down to Porthmadog, down the Glaslyn valley but it is lovely.

We stay down at Criccieth, bit more exposed site (as in coastal) but the area is fab.

Look for mb's threads at about Whit time on here last year!

Here you go, last year's posts -see aren't I kind!!

Troutpout · 08/05/2007 13:36

yes you are LC... i blardy love you
oh it looks good doesn't it..
mmmm .. ..can i sneak another weekend in without dh noticing...
Sounds like just my kind of place...only downside is the midges (they love me)

Have you been away already or booked anywhere yet Lucy?
We've booked Plas-U-chaf on Anglesey for a week and Rynys Farm (Betws-y-Coed) for a long weekend so far (trying to persuade Marthamoo and her brood to join us for one of them)
Dh is changing jobs though in the summer is isn't keen to load the weekends up too much at first (boo)

We're off to Eisteddfa at Criccieth for Whit, maybe a couple of weekends up in Buxton, then Cornwall and Devon for 3 weeks in the summer - so far

I used to have family holidays in Pwllheli, Criceith and Beddgelert. Beddgelert did have a great ice cream shop! Love the area. We used to climb Snowdon and swim in the rivers and lakes as well as enjoying those lovely beaches.

We didn't camp though - mostly stayed in farmhouses but we stay at the hotel in Criceith once - The George? Anyway, it was very nice but I suppose it's over 20 years ago. Must book to take my own DCs.

Have a lovely time! And report back please!

Troutpout · 08/05/2007 13:57

Ah.. sounds good
Eisteddfa looks really good and has really good reviews doesn't it.
I tried to get in at Lime tree Park in Buxton for Bank holiday but they filled up really quick...mind you...weather wasn't great was it
We are off to cornwall (the lizard) at Whit for 2 weeks...in a caravan though
Can't wait
