Camping in south of England summer half term?

Will it be too cold?
I have camped a bit with the kids in the summer but not earlier in the year. Trying to decide between a few days mid August or a few days end may.
Would the longer days in may offset any downsides in the weather?

No, should be fine! We camp in the lakes from Easter onwards. May half term is often really warm anyway!

We find the beginning of May a bit too cold but the end of May is fine!

Oh great! End may is easier logistically for us than mid August but am still a novice camper and have never camped alone with the kids. So next challenge will be to put the tent up solo!

We’ve been camping May half term (whitsun) and it has been 4 degrees in the tent at night,in Devon before. Usually it’s ok but you do have to be prepared for cool evenings...
