does anybody know any child friendly sites in the Cambridge are?

This looks promising and is not too far out of Cambridge - if going into the city, park at the Madingley Road Park and Ride site rather than try to park in the city (expensive and difficult).
Another one is well situated but doesn't seem to cater for children.

Have you tried Cabbage Moor in Great Shelford? This is very close to Cambridge centre and it looks like there is a children's play area. Never been there myself (as I'm local) but DS has camped there for a Duke of Edinburgh award exercise!
