OP posts:
hotbot · 19/04/2007 19:08

at price, tho it is lovely

PeachesMcLean · 19/04/2007 19:24

It's got no floor cover. And you have to wear silly clothes.

workstostaysane · 19/04/2007 19:34

looks kind of crazy to me.
but if it blows your hair back filly, then sell sell sell that booty..
by the way, am going camping with a 10mo soon. any top tips on what to take?
forget that, will start a thread rather than hijack yours...

Fillyjonk · 19/04/2007 20:44

I want one too. There must be a way to get one cheaper than that as we lived in one for a while when I was a kid, and my mum had no money whatsoever. I will look into it & let you know if I come up with anything!

ruthydd · 20/04/2007 10:47

I thought I was on to something with a bell tent . Smaller and cheaper than a tipi and it has a ground sheet......but was persuaded against it here

custy · 20/04/2007 10:55

on a campsite - you would look a complete cock

TooTicky · 20/04/2007 10:59

OOh. There must be some negatives. Um...

Fillyjonk · 20/04/2007 11:01

yeah but to everyone else, campers look complete cocks

so i don't think thats necarily an arguement...

OP posts:
custy · 20/04/2007 11:06

as a camper though - all the other campers will point and say " what a cock"

Fillyjonk · 20/04/2007 11:23

hmm so

either all the campers point and say "what a cock"

or

all the normal people point at the campers and say "what a cock" and you are mercifully left out of the cockness cos of being just obviously needily weird.

hmm tough one.

OP posts:
custy · 20/04/2007 11:57

if your going to be a cock - do it in style

ahhhh

Lilymaid · 20/04/2007 12:21

Are you intending to camp in Lapland or in winter?

Fillyjonk · 20/04/2007 15:09

yurts are fantastic

you spend a night in one and emerge a leggy bodened-up blonde with a trust fund and an interest in helping the world's poor

OP posts:
Lucycat · 20/04/2007 16:15

oh purlease

nomadic cockdom at it's most pretentious.

and how much?

gess · 20/04/2007 16:16

Oh I love the look of these because they can be put up by 1 person (which we would need if we were ever to go camping).

Lucycat · 20/04/2007 16:16

or build your own Eden project

again - how much?

Lucycat · 20/04/2007 16:20

oh and no16 yurt is their 'most popular' at £4300!!

has anyone actually ever seen one on a campsite? and how many do they have to sell for that model to be their most popular?

Fillyjonk · 20/04/2007 18:05

"Pronounced 'oooled nile', or ?the old nail?? as it has affectionately come to be known, is a copy of a traditional Algerian tribal tent. Once inside you are quickly transported to North Africa, and with a charcoal burner going, some traditional lamps lit and the smell of coffee drifting through the tent, you could easily forget you have only gone as far as the end of the garden! "

ooh imperialism at its best

Saw a yurt last year, looked OK no more.

tentipi at the tent display we went to today.

TBH we were (I'm suprised) not impressed. It was the £999 model, yet was cramped and dark.

Really hot too today despite being polycotton!!!

MuminBrum · 22/04/2007 21:25

"gone as far as the end of the garden"? FFS, you could put my entire garden, my house, and two or three of the neighbours' houses into that Ouled Nail thing. I think we all know what kind of clientele they're pitching themselves at (camping pun, sorry).

BonnieDarko · 22/04/2007 21:39

I've never seen a yurt or a tipi at a regular campsite, but you see them all the time at festivals......... 'tis a lot of money though.

Blandmum · 22/04/2007 21:44

You couldn't have these and have children with anything approaching a 'normal' name.

They would all have to be called things like Cammomile and Dandelion.

And you'd have to call them in for meals on a regular basis to add to the humilation.

You'd have to give birth in it on a yearly basis too, while ol' Camomile chewed on last years unbilical cord.
