Well, after years of nagging, I've finally succummed and we're off to get a tent tomorrow! Having looked at a few, have decided to go for an Outwell, but keep chopping and changing between models.
Sewn-in groundsheet - good or bad?
The ones with sloping fronts - doesn't the rain just get in when it's wet and you need to go out?
Any advice or recommendations?

Have no idea about rain etc. but have just bought the indiana and have trial put it up in the garden. Was really easy (we've only ever put up a beach tent before). We went for the this type of groundsheet as we have 3dc and know what kind of mess they make and thought it would be easier to sweep and keep clean iyswim.
Have our first outing booked for the 2nd June. Fingers crossed the weather holds
No help particularly i know but at least i've bumped it for you

We just boutght the Ontario actually (Khyam) but if you want to slum it with an Outwell ( )

We prefer SIGs (I have arthritis and circulatory issues and theya re generally warmer), they also protect against bugs etc. But some poeple prefer non- SIGs its really just a personal preference. If you get a SIG consider the footprint to go under as it does increase longevity- the big donside of SIG is that once it goes, so does your tent.

All Outwells are fab, remember that anything over 5m wide (length 9 metres) is now considered to need two pitches (with requiste payments) by many campsites (inclusing all those owned by the camping and caravan club, of which I would recommend membership for £35 a year per family).

personally we were looking at the Sun Valley, and next time we are hoping to get the Norfolk but of course that is expensive and an expemnsive investment, and as a first timer I wouldn't suggest it- what if you hate it?

Other than that though its really just personal preference.
