France in October half term

We are about to become the proud new owners of a caravan (after too many times dodging the weather through UK and Europe in a tent) and I'd love to get away for October half term.

We'd drive up to 5 or 6 hours from Calais, particularly love the Blois and Orléans areas but more than happy to explore somewhere new.

Any recommendations of sites that are still open in October? We don't need pools or anything fancy, just somewhere that's clean and has things to do nearby to occupy the DCs.

Google will be your friend. There will be some but most close mid September and don't open again until Easter. We went the week before Easter last year and did have some problems but eventually managed to find a couple. We were in a motorhome though so we had other options

We just stayed at Bois du Bardelet in Gien, not far from Orleans. Not sure if it will still be open but it was a beautiful site. We were only there for three nights so not sure how much there is to occupy a week but went to Guedelon which was amazing.
