Somewhere like River Dart Country Park?

Is there such a place?

We go to RD every year and love it mostly because it's a 30 minute drive home if it starts raining but would love to try somewhere else.

Every year I look and can never seem to find somewhere similar. I think I could brave pretty much anywhere in the U.K. Any suggestions?

We've had some great holidays at RD.

What features about RD do you like and what to find elsewhere? Are you thinking about staying somewhere for a weekend, or week?

I like the playgrounds and the little bike tracks and that it feels safe enough to let the kids off on their own.

I know RD has loads of huge play areas but I can't seem to find anywhere else that has much more than just a small playground aimed at littlies.

Woodlands?

HensAndRabbits · 06/08/2017 08:04

I live about half a mile away from Woodlands so I might as well camp in my back garden! I do love Woodlands though. Has anyone camped at their other site? I think it's called Twin Lakes? In Leicestershire I think.

Kelling Heath in Norfolk? Might be too far.

That looks lovely nota. I've never been to Norfolk before. Have you been there?

Wellington Country Park, near Reading ? I don't know River Dart Country Park, but looking at their website it seems like a similar setup, although Wellington has fewer pitches. Wellington allows after hour access to the park for campers.

My husband goes there regularly I'm not a camping fan but am close to being persuaded to try it there!

The steam train to the seaside stops there too!

HensAndRabbits · 06/08/2017 18:14

Thank you thebittetboy that looks perfect. I've got over excited and booked it for a weekend in September for a trial Grin

A group of about 20 of us normally do 5 days or so over the summer. Everyone else lives London way or Wales and I always feel a bit bad only driving half an hour when everyone else has come so far.

I haven't camped at Twin Lakes, but Twin Lakes is great!

It sounds like we use Wellington in the same way you use River Dart, it's not far from us, running away distance if the weather turns! It's great, might have to give River Dart a try.
