Camping alone??

Hi all

I'm a lover of the great outdoors, and camp every year with the DC. As a single parent, I'm considering going on my own this weekend (DC with their Dad)... am I mad?

Its something on my bucket list - I can imagine how amazing it could be... long walks, reading... complete relaxation....

but am I missing something? Do people actually go on their own? Not sure I've seen anyone before!

On the hunt for a quiet site local to me - probably in the new forest, where I can have some lovely long walks

DP goes camping on his own, I don't think it's weird... well it sounds like bliss to me at the moment lol

The only issue is leaving valuables when you go to the showers. You need to either lock them in the car or take them with you (and the car keys!)
Otherwise it is sheer bliss Grin

Thanks both... have booked somewhere for this weekend!

I camp loads on my own. To be honest it never occurred to me to think about my valuables - I just leave them in the tent. Think about what you want from the trip when picking your site. I think having the right site is more important if you are on your own.

I usually try and go for one with either an on site cafe or pub in walking distance but not much else in the way of 'attractions' so there may be a few families but it not swarming with them, I also pick ones that have no groups rules and strict quiet time rules. But you may want something more lively or quieter.

Bliss. It is bliss. Do it

Its booked!

Picked a quiet site in the new forest with little in the way of facilities - to keep the numbers down hopefully... pub 2 miles walk away should I need it, and not much else... lots of walks in the area. Hoping to go for some nice early / late walks and spot deer - fingers crossed!
