Good torch?

Can anyone recommend a good torch for camping? We have a maglite which eats batteries and weighs a tonne and head torches which really aren't strong enough but would like something with a decent range that isn't really big and heavy.

I bought a LED Lenser torch last year which wasn't cheap (£35, I think) and stopped working-the batteries has rusted inside. I'm not sure if that was was a dodgy torch or dodgy batteries though??

We have two lanterns that were 15 each and light up the tent or sitting area and then head lamps for going to and from bathroom. I do always bring a mini maglite but rarely use it as it's more comfortable to use the lanterns.

I've also bought rechargeable batteries though which has been a really good investment.
