Cheap campsite?

Hi,
Does anybody know of any nice, reasonably priced campsites.?When I was younger we could camp for around £10 per night! Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

I stayed here last year. £5 per night. It has 2 taps.

You could in theory use the nearby National Trust toilets, but for fucks sake don't! You could cut out cubes of the smell and stack them up outside. I have never found a stinkier toilet before in my life. I improvised with wee, and saved poo up for special occasions when visiting things. For only £5.
I also had a go at bathing in the mountain stream. Cold. Very very cold. £5 though.
I was also the only person camping there. The owner said it was really busy the previous week, but that was only 5 tents. I think he likes it empty.
Saw lots of shooting stars too.

Lovely place near Cirencester. It's cheap because it only has compost toilets and pretty much no shower. But there is a lovely organic farm shop there!

Are you on Facebook? I'm on "cheapest U.K. Campsites" which is good - all under £20 a night for a family - but be careful you don't post more expensive campsites or they will ban you!! I think there is an under a tender group too but haven't tried it.

Not many campsites charge per pitch (or do, but are over £20) but more per person. If it's just you there will be a fair few about.
I stayed at Akebar in North Yorkshire with my three year old for £7.50 per night.

ukcampsite.com i think do a whole range of sites. I was surprised at how expensive it is generally. Going away next week two adults. one child. two dogs £250 for 7 days. So quite costly but when you consider how much you'd have to pay to stay in a shabby butlinsesque chalet during half term its cheap as chips. Camping means we can go on holiday every year abs we love it.

the site offers mod cons though - electric. showers play area shop so sure there are much cheaper places. We are hoping to go a bit wolder in the summer holidays.

I think even basic camping is expensive these days, even when we turn up with a tiny tent cycle camping we usually pay £9 each. I remember my parents paying £3 or £5 a night for the whole family.

We paid £19 last week, two adults on our bikes, a field with a loo and a shower. Not having to book is a massive plus for us though, we can always find somewhere with room at the sort of rustic site we like just by phoning the day before generally (plus no one ever turns us away if we are cycle camping).

Camping means that we can turn up, pitch, have dinner out and something nice somewhere mid morning for breakfast for the price of staying in a fairly ordinary B&B. Not having to eat out every day is a big plus too. I don't always want to.

I like being able to decide last minute rather than booking months ahead like we do for non camping breaks.

Someone on this board recommended Kestrel Lodge, near Bassenthwaite in the Lakes. I've not been but I've booked for a week in July - it looks lovely.
£7pppn low season, £9pppn high season which works out well for me, as I camp on my own , I resent paying over £20 for a pitch (probably works out cheaper paying per pitch for a family though).

That was me Nanny and we nearly made it there last week but we were cycling and the route was vvv hilly. I wasn't up to the hills!

You could try looking at caravan club sites. There are some real cheap ones but you would have to join the caravan club to use them, obviously.

We've been for a weekend as a group. It's great if you just want some country camping in lovely rolling farmland in Devon but miles from the beach or any attractions. Prices start at £10 per night for 2 adults in low season but increase if you want EHU, children etc.
