Ok. Just bought vango sims double 10cm for camping but dd and a friend trialling it tonight on downstairs floor as having sleep over.
Do I need to do anything specific with it when packing it away tomorrow? Google seems to say need to store inflated??Confused

Bit how would that work?

Surely I just deflate it and fold and roll it back into its bag...

We have that sim. Its very comfy and fab for keeping you warm when camping and we also use it as a spare bed when people stay over. I have always stored it rolled up and in its bag for the 2 years we've had it and it seems fine. I think it's recommended to store inflated but we dont have the space for that. Good luck rolling it back up tomorrow, that's an absolute motherlover of a job that I always leave for DH.

Thanks, QuattroFormaggio. I've told dd to leave it until Im there in the morning before trying to deflate it. How long to inflate it? It's been out since 6 30 ish but not yet nearly 10cm.

Am very interested to see how this went as im just out the door to buy a 10cm vango. I get what they say about the storage thpugh as we just unrolled our 5cm one and nothing, nada, dead! took a comedy of errors to get it back to life. 5cm wouldn't be enough for dp and myself so we are going to buy a 10cm as well?/instead.

This camping malarky is going to bankrupt me!

Well, dd said it was comfortable although I'm yet to try it myself when camping. It was difficult to deflate and it's currently deflated but I've left it open and lying on my ds's bed. Not sure what I'll do with it when he returns from uni and will probably pack it in bag as no room to keep it open.

Ideally, they should be stored inflated, but ours are rolled. Would there be space under a bed or beside a wardrobe?

To deflate, we open valve and lie on it, then close valve. Roll up as much as poss, then keeping one knee on it, open valve and squeeze a bit more (sitting on it helps), close valve - repeat. Sometimes, with the valve closed, let it unroll, then do a super tight roll, either flat or 'halved' lengthways for the last time.

We have just purchased it so am hoping it does the trick

TheoriginalLEM · 21/05/2017 17:53

it certainly inflated well! man in the camping shop looked at me like i was a loon and said you don't have to store flat but ive read conflicting articles.

Be our first week on the floor so fingers crossed.

DH's 16th birthday present was a thermarest SIM. He is 52 this year and it is still going strong 😳😳. It has been stored flat and/or rolled during its long life. I am really not sure it makes that much difference.
