Good campsites in Lake District or other for toddlers, please...

My sister and I have had the (rather late) idea to go camping over the May Bank Holiday weekend. DH and I used to tent it quite a bit. My sister has been once. Neither of us have been with DCs.

We were hoping to go to the Lakes but open to recommendations on anywhere decent in NorthWest/North Wales. Also if anyone has any definite no-nos, that would be helpful.

Main criteria is that the site is safe for toddlers, decent toilet facilities and preferably within walking distance of pub/eaterie if weather is naff. Would be an advantage to have a playground or similar on site or close by.

TIA

The Plassey in Wrexham is a lovely site we went there last summer with our little boy who was 18 month old and he loved it because he could just run round, plus it is 5star so the facilities are great.

Thanks everyone

Have yet to make a decision - sister now wavering! Have had another recommendation for the Plassey, too.

Will let you know where we end up and what it's like.

Hiya Jammy, The Plassey is lovely, but there's nothing much to do if the weather is wet (apart from a small indoor swimming pool which is £1 an hour) and it only has a very small pub with a very small arcade attached to it.

On the other hand, I loved Parkfoot in Ullswater. There is a lovely restaurant (where I sneaked off for my breakfast) and also a decent sized club house where the little ones can dance away. There is a little stream running through the site and the shop there also sells warm rolls every morning. Oh, there's a few good climbing/swing parks there too .
