Duinrell - own tent

I've seen lots of posts about Duinrell but not many from people camping. We've booked the ferry to Hook of Holland so just need to book the campsite.

The site is huge and there are so many options with booking. It seems we will have to pay in full at time of booking rather than just a deposit. Plan to do this sooner rather than later to get early booking free pool entry but once Christmas madness out of the way.

Any tips on good areas to request for pitch? Days out? Anyone other useful info?

We camped a few years ago. We chose a pitch in the very furthest field from all the amusements but then ended up too close to the outside road!! Looking at the map, we were in Ekenveld, round about pitch 247. It was fine although a bit too shady. We're thinking of going again next year - would choose the same field, but closer to the toilet block and away from the boundary wall, so around 200. Definitely take bikes - there's a cycle path all the way to a great beach. Go cart hire is fab for the kids. There's a Lidl now in Waasennaar which wasn't there the first time we went, so that's great for supermarket shopping as onsite pretty pricey.

The middenveld has nice pitches.

Yes to bikes.

The Lidl was there when I worked on duinrell in 2001!
