Caravan/camping sites in France or Spain, quiet, coastal with pool?

So DH booked us into a Cornish site this year, it's been great but I need a warmer option next year...I've had a hoodie on the whole time we've been here and don't feel I've had that holiday experience if I'm honest, we've had a lot of time inside and with raincoats on.....
Will have 3 DCs this time next year, 5, 3 and 6 months so would like a campsite that is close to a beach and facilities but not keen on holiday club style places, a small pool would be pretty essential and if possible a walk/bike to a sandy beach.
Happy to ferry and drive as far south as Santander, Bilbao might be a bit too hot in July/August for the little one.
Any suggestions of sites appreciated!

Sorry I meant to add..... If you can face/break up the drive there are loads around Venice...... My fave is ca'savio or if you wanted more facilities union lido

We had a lovely few days here in June. It is 200m to the village with a small Carrefour and several bars/restaurants and 400m walk through a wooded area to the beach. We cycled along the coast and found plentiful other beaches too.
There is no entertainment, but a small pool and little games room where the World Cup matches were shown. The little shop on site only opens a few hours a day and also doubles up as a small restaurant- looks not much but the food was really cheap and delicious.
La Palmyre Zoo is lovely and also walkable.
Being in the Charente the weather was lovely, not as hot as the South but better than the Vendee, and an easy drive from Cherbourg/Caen.

Bumping this as I'd like to ask how and when people book French campsites? Everyone I've looked at for next year says no availability-I can't work out if they're all fully booked or if they haven't opened their books yet?

The bigger sites usually open their bookings a month or 2 after the end of the current season so early November ish. Smaller sites will be later.
I think the owners have a holiday themselves and then do any trade shows or exhibitions etc

We've enjoyed a couple of Huttopia sites which are very tranquil -we went for the glamping option but you can take your own tent. There is a pool and bar/pizza restaurant and some quiet activities. Cars are parked separately so no traffic which is great. They are not coastal though. Their sister company Indigo have some sites by the sea but I don't know if those ones have pools.

We went here last year and it was fab www.camping-castels.co.uk/camping-l-anse-du-brick-id253-id_camping13.html, its a small site with a sandy beach accessed by crossing a bridge. The pool was often empty and there was a kids club, which although we didn't use often, we nipped into. There was a bouncy castle, indoors which was a great place for the kids to meet others.

It was good to get to, we took a Ferry to Cherbourg and it was a 30 min drive to the site. We stayed in a mobile home, it was compact but perfect for us and set high on a hill, we had great views of the bay and sea each evening :-)

If you're looking for a little warmth try a little further south in France. There are plenty of great campsites in France to choose from. As Berthatydfil said, the bigger sites may have availability open now or if you travel with someone like Eurocamp then you can generally book now. Some other companies like Suncamp will allow advance bookings but they generally aren't confirmed until later on. It depends on whether you're planning to take your own tent/caravan etc or if you're going to use the on site accommodation as well normally.
