Will this be incredibly uncomfortable?

After an unsuccessful weekend using a blow up mattress where DP claims its killing his back (he is very tall) he's suggested using mats like yoga ones, a quilt on top then a quilt to cover us? Is that a ridiculous idea?

Wouldnt work for me however i was notorious for moaning about my back whilst camping! I finally gave up and forked out for a 10cm double SIM and have finally enjoyed camping this week!

This inflatable was far better than regular air beds.
the yoga mat duvet combo would be very uncomfortable IMO.

I'd get cheap camp beds. You can get them for less than £20.

Those mats are very thin.

Old fashioned canvas camp beds with proper wool blanket on top then either cotton sheet and duvet or cotton sleeping bag. I buy wool blankets from ebay.

Don't know what your budget is, but we bought 2 x single outwell dreamcatcher 10 SIMs which cost £50 each on top of a solid home made bed (old wooden cupboard doors on wood frame!). Nothing else other than a sheet on the SIMs and the duvet off our bed. 4 nights away and we had good really comfy sleeps. I am not usually the best sleeper and a bit of a fidget so 2 singles were better than a double. £100 well spent ! We used to have much-- thinner SIMs plus a camp mat, but find them too hard cos we are getting on !--

Thanks all will look at the options. Turns out he thought we were taking 'about three' quilts to sleep on. Yes dear, we'll take the tardis rather than the car too!
