Hi there, I know there are a few fans of camping in Wales here. Any idea what the weather's like in Newcastle Emlyn in April?

Blardy cold, mind you it usually is most of the time.

Flower3554 · 13/01/2007 11:41

Ps whats Emlyn?

AbbyMumsnet · 13/01/2007 18:35

Newcastle Emlyn is a place in Wales. I don't mean Newcastle.

Have you tried looking at 'metcheck', they have all sorts of climatic info on there!

us campers don't ignore the mighty mn towers who gave us our own thread

martianbishop has camped there!

Blandmum · 15/01/2007 21:07

Cold and wet I would imagine ;)

It is a fab site though. I went there last year, the site is great, V child friendly and the owners and so helpful.

They even have a little bar in an old barn. But still a nice quiet site. I'd love to go there more often, but it too far away.

Seriously, the nicest place I have stayed in the UK and would recoemnd it to anyone. But April in Wales....tooo cold for my blood, and I'm Welsh!!!!!!

Willnbel · 15/01/2007 21:09

I cant imagine it being much warmer than anywhere else in Wales and so on the cool side in April. We went caravan camping there in Augst last year (with a five wo baby!)and the area itself is quite nice. Little tea rooms and quite friendly. Lots of peoople rave about it becuse theres a fab mother of the bride dress shop there.

AbbyMumsnet · 15/01/2007 22:30

Um, I'm not going to the same place as MB, I'm doing that whole Featherdown Farm thang. (Which I know isn't real camping as all you purists know it, but it looks a real adventure.) Will report back on my return. Thanks for info though!

Providing I don't freeze to death, obviously.

Newcastle Emlyn is 15 mins drive from where my mum lives

It'll be pretty chilly in April unless we have a heat wave

but its a pretty town and the surrounding area is luverly. You have chosen a nice place to go. You are quite near the most beautiful beaches - although it won't be 'beach' weather but will give you some lovely walks.

April is a pretty time of year to go too. Good choice AbbyMumsnet.

poppiesinaline · 17/01/2007 16:16

and if you get too cold you could always pop into my mums for a cup of tea

Blandmum · 17/01/2007 16:19

Is Featherdoan the 'tent in a hut' sort of thing V luxurious with all tyhe comfort but no electricity? Very atmospheric . If so v

Lucycat · 18/01/2007 10:29

Is this it Abbie?

Gorgeous - very Little House on the Prairie.

AbbyMumsnet · 22/01/2007 18:44

Yep, that's it. Looks really lovely although suspect will be v. cold. Must buy Boden thermals.
