EUROCAMP - Has anyone used them? Where did you go and would you recommend them?

Someone at work suggested them to me as we are considering camping somewhere other than the UK this time round.
Apparently they have tents already pitched so you don't have to worry about taking all the stuff with you. Apparently have all the necessities in them as well ie fridge, beds, cooking stove, cutlery etc etc etc. Sounds great.
Would like to know what people thought of them and the whereabouts of a good, child friendly park.

I have been to both Eurocamp and Keycamp and have found them to be great.
I have not camped tho but used mobile homes but yes everything is set up for you.
We have been going now for 7 years and altho DH and I would have preferred to try something different this year the kids were adament that they wanted to return.
We have used a lot of sites in France and every one has been great - no complaints.

Try Canvas Holidays too. Keycamp great but booked up this year for where we want to go in France. Got a tent booked through Canvas Holidays at the same site!

been with eurocamp, got a great late deal. Then got our own stuff and went with eurocamp independent. Great holidays.

Been to a few places started off in Northern Vendee been to the Dordogne Loire Valley and Languedoc

We've been here a few years ago and it was fab.It is relatively small and extremely well run.Admittedly we were in a mobile home but friends have been in the tents and say they're good.

You are a fish after all! Personally I couldn't cope with sand and camping but maybe I'm the weird one.

You could also try Siblu.

We're going to Vendee this May with them and of the 4 (eurocamp, keycamp, canvas and siblu) they were the cheapest. (we went with them to Brittany 2 years ago when they were called Haven Europe).

It's my kind of camping really, clean toilets and beds and a kitchen with fridge (mobile home this time around) don't really do the roughing it stuff!

Canvas keep on winning awards for being the best camping company. Have been with them twice and with Eurocamp twice - and have just booked with Canvas for this summer again. Eurocamp tends to be dearer.

We always have mobiles, tho' did have a night in a tent when we needed to be near the ferry and no mobiles were available. DH got bitten by mozzies taking DS2 to the loo in the middle of the night so refuses to go in a tent again!

Have got air con this year...have roasted in mobiles in recent years! Tend now to do budget flights to further afield. You can hire linen if necessary.

Have been to Brittany, Holland, Riviera, Languedoc... and the beauty is, you can have a few days at one site then a few at another if you want..ie you're not limited to a week/fortnight.

Also consider booking with the sites direct, you can get really good prices, and might be able to get a caravan or chalet for the price you would pay for a tent, depends on fery prices though. Some include some don't.

Hoseaons are an other one to consider, they don't have their own caravans they book out the sites own accomodation.

often when the ferry isnt included its not worth it. you really have to spend time researching.

i live a stones strow away from newhaven. 2 hour drive to the chunnel

in theory i should be able to pack up a tent and take the family on a cheapy holiday to france. but the reality is that i might as well book through venue becuase then i get a roper bed, fridge, electricity,no hassle more room in car. and its cheaper!

Canvas have been taken over by the same group that runs English Country Cottages etc (this lot ) - that might make a difference longterm.

I just called Venue holidays - 4 of us, 1 tent, 2 weeks = £300! We're going to fly so reduction for no ferry crossing.

i have always driven - how much will flight cost?

St Hilaire, can't remember site name... something La Plage. We're going May/June, over half term, plus week off (sssh, keeping head down over that!).

Flights from Stansted to Nante = £452 for 4 of us.

By the time we add up ferry crossing and diesel I thought that was a good price for flights. Plus kids not flown before so double excitement.

We've been with Matthews holidays and we found their caravans cheaper than a tent with Canvas.

We've been to Camping Atlantique and Clarys Plage. Both good.

Having been, I prefer the caravans to the tents as the pitches are really small - more or less the size of the tent and they all seem to front onto the roads through the site. They've not been tents in the middle of a big field.

Eurosite.. same as all the others, but cheaper. Best campsite is Cypsela coz it's families only so no crowds of disgusting unsupervised yobs on hen and stag weeks.
